The purpose of the Stony Plain Horticultural Society (SPHS) is to foster and promote horticulture of the highest quality possible amongst its members and in the community.
Monthly general meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month with the exception of July, August, December, and January. Meetings take place downstairs at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in the Luther Room. Please use the doors on the North Side of the church (look for our signs). Doors open at 7 p.m., meeting starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome – membership is not required to attend a meeting but we do ask for a $3 drop-in donation from non-members.
Meeting BreakdownWhat can you expect at a SPHS meeting?
|7 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.||Doors open. Sign-in, enter door prize, get your coffee and tea (provided by the club), find a seat, and socialize.|
|7:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.||Icebreaker - We endeavor to have an icebreaker at every meeting. Icebreaker sessions are optional to take part in and will vary on topic. Please check the event listings for icebreaker topics.|
|7:30 p.m. - 7:55 p.m.||Regular club business meeting.|
|7:55 p.m. - 8 p.m.||Short break to refill on coffee and tea, etc.|
|8 p.m. - 9 p.m.||Guest speaker(s) or special planned activities.|
|9 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.||Door prizes are drawn and clean-up begins.|
|9:30 p.m.||Doors closed.|
Any person may become a member at any time on payment of a $15 annual fee. Membership entitles one to vote and/or hold office in the society.
