Guest Speaker: Tasha Bradsell, Baraka Gardens
Topic: Beneficial Good Bugs
Tasha Bradsell has a background, not in horticulture but in the media. She worked for over 20 years in the broadcast media, as a journalist, producer, and news anchor.
Throughout her career, Tasha took a deep interest in environmental issues. She created Alberta’s first radio show that was devoted to the environment, and as a TV journalist she interviewed world-renowned environmentalists including Paul Watson and David Suzuki. As a correspondent, Tasha also covered the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2006, Tasha left the media to pursue her passion for gardening and purchased a small greenhouse which she expanded into an award-winning business. From the beginning, Tasha applied her knowledge of sustainability to the growing practices at Baraka Gardens.
Last year, looking for another new challenge, Tasha joined the Parkland County volunteer fire service. Her main focus though, continues to be Baraka Gardens and sharing the lessons learned through 10 years of growing.
